"Going Under The Sea With Five Drexel University Freshmen To Bring A Sea Turtle To Life"

Welcome to the blog of group four in Dr. Primerano's Engineering 103 Design Lab Section. We are a group of first year engineering students at Drexel University in Philadelphia completing the end of our freshmen design experience. The purpose of this blog is to serve as a showcase and journal for our freshmen design project, an animatronic turtle! Taking inspiration from the sea turtles found on the beaches of the shore and global waters, the goal of our project is to create an interactive robotic device that mimics this creature. Our turtle will be designed to be able to move all four limbs along with its head, as well as given the ability to sense when humans are close and retract into its shell. An interactive presentation between the device and humans is the ultimate goal of making this device relevant in terms of themed entertainment. This will all be accomplished in phases, as components in mechanical, electrical, computer programming, and even aesthetic design will be required to complete our device.

Please feel free to explore our blog. All of the weekly updates can be found by clicking on the tab above, as well as background information on the device, FAQ's, tutorials we have found useful, and our group member biographies. Below is a video and photos of the turtle we are trying to recreate:
